We may collect the following types of personal information:

• Account information: name, email address, phone number, profile photo
• Authentication data: login credentials (passwords are hashed and stored securely by Supabase; we never have access to your plain-text password)
• Payment information: processed and stored by Stripe. BuildPeek does not store your credit card number, bank account details, or other financial information on our servers
• Property information: property address (suburb level), photos, videos, virtual tours, descriptions, build costs, and other listing details submitted by Service Providers
• Usage data: pages visited, features used, timestamps, IP address, browser type, and device information
• Communications: messages, support requests, and feedback you send to us

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your personal information to:

• Create and manage your account
• Display property listings and facilitate transactions between Buyers and Service Providers
• Process payments through Stripe
• Send transactional emails (booking confirmations, payment receipts, consultation notifications)
• Review and approve property listings
• Improve and maintain the platform
• Respond to your enquiries and provide customer support
• Comply with legal obligations

3. How We Share Your Information

We may share your personal information with:

• Service Providers and Buyers: When a transaction occurs, limited information (such as name) is shared between parties to facilitate the service
• Stripe: Payment processing. Stripe's use of your data is governed by Stripe's Privacy Policy
• Supabase: Authentication and database hosting. Data is stored securely in Supabase's infrastructure
• Resend: Email delivery service for transactional emails
• Google: If you sign in with Google OAuth, Google may receive information in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy
• Law enforcement or regulatory bodies: Where required by law or to protect our legal rights

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption and security practices. Our infrastructure is hosted by Supabase and Vercel, which maintain SOC 2 compliance and use encrypted connections. While we take reasonable steps to protect your data, no method of electronic storage or transmission over the internet is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Overseas Disclosure

Some of our service providers (Supabase, Stripe, Vercel, Resend) may store or process data outside of Australia, including in the United States. By using BuildPeek, you consent to this transfer. We take reasonable steps to ensure that overseas recipients handle your information in accordance with the APPs.

6. Cookies and Tracking

BuildPeek uses essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not currently use third-party advertising cookies or trackers. If we introduce analytics or marketing cookies in the future, we will update this policy and provide you with the ability to opt out.

7. Your Rights

Under the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you
• Correct any inaccurate or out-of-date information
• Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal obligations)
• Withdraw consent for optional data processing
• Complain if you believe we have breached the APPs

8. Data Retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with our services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymise your personal information within a reasonable timeframe, except where we are required to retain it for legal, regulatory, or dispute resolution purposes.

9. Children's Privacy

BuildPeek is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the revised policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of BuildPeek after any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

11. Complaints

If you are not satisfied with our response to a privacy concern, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
